Our Philosophy
The School believes:
|
ð
|
That nursing
is an art and science, which combines scientific and technical knowledge
with a special touch |
|
ð
|
That client
participation and education is an integral role of nursing |
|
ð
|
That
personal and family health care are nursing responsibilities and must be
addressed |
|
ð
|
That,
realizing the shortage of nurses and meeting with the fact that state-run
schools have long waiting lists, the School appreciates the fact that there
are many students who wish to attain their nursing licenses |
|
ð
|
that we
choose to educate and graduate exemplary students who are instructed in the
belief that excellent, skilled nursing must be combined with compassion and
caring |
| ð |
That student
nurses today must be abreast of the changing health care system, the
advancements in science, technology, bio-ethics, and treatment breakthroughs
|
| ð |
That the
student nurse must realize that the client, today, is more savvy and prone
to question the health care provider. The professional must be prepared to
address all of these issues |
| |
|
|
The Faculty believes: |
| ð |
That
pedagogy, in its best form, is a shared responsibility between the teacher
and the student |
| ð |
That the
teacher will open the door, but the student must enter |
| ð |
That the
instructor must provide an atmosphere conductive to learning; that which
encourages questioning, pondering, intellectual curiosity, growth, and
self-discipline |
| ð |
That
education in the nursing field must include moral, ethical and legal
principle, which will assure that potential nurses adhere to the code of
conduct demanded and inherent in the nursing field |
| ð |
That
instructing the nursing student includes the integration of problem-solving
techniques, cognitive, affective, and psychomotor components |
| ð |
That the
instructor must provide a myriad of ways to present the information and
engage the student |
| ð |
That the
instructor must draw from ancillary material in order to ensure the
education and success of the student |
| ð |
That each
student is and individual with different modes of learning |
| ð |
That each
student has worth and dignity, regardless of the socioeconomic, cultural, or
educational background |
| ð |
That each
student has the right to be treated with respect |
|
